All we’ve heard at our place for the past month or so is: “Will the baby goats come today?”
And at school pick up: “Were there any baby goats today?”
So, imagine the excitement when a baby goat came today. The long-awaited arrival finally happened early this morning while we were all tucked up in our beds.
She’s a clever girl, our doe Amber. With no fuss (at least not that we could hear), she delivered a gorgeous little girl who looks just like her. I know what you’re thinking … don’t all goats look the same?
Well no, not really. Amber is easy to tell apart from the others because of her skin tags. Little baby no-name-yet also has skin tags.
The last time that kids arrived on the farm there were four, so we gave them different coloured collars. This helped us to tell them apart until they grew their own little personalities.
Mum and baby are spending lots of time bonding in the shed while the rest of the tribe are giving them plenty of space.
Meanwhile the human kids still have to go to school but one managed a sneaky text enquiring … “How is the baby goat going?”
